Coal Producers Adopt Advanced Spray Technology - Improving Safety and Opening New Mining Areas
2024-11-11

A coal producer needed to dissipate methane gas from an underground mine to avoid ignition and explosion. Certain specific areas are close to the methane gas source and are considered unsafe due to the higher concentration of methane gas. Saturating the air with humidity would prevent the methane gas from igniting. The use of hydraulic nozzles on continuous miners does not produce the fine droplets needed to humidify the air.

Bevane's air atomizing nozzles provide the ideal solution for coal producers. Air atomization produces very fine droplets (between 40-60 microns) at low flow rates and is highly effective for dust control and humidification. With five nozzles in each row of a continuous miner, these nozzles create a fine mist curtain to suppress dust during operation, eliminating the possibility of methane gas ignition.Bevane air atomizing nozzles improve mine safety and can be used by coal producers in areas that have never been explored before. Because a continuous miner is worth well over $50,000 per day, the additional coal mined results in a payback time of less than two weeks. In addition to the initial installation, air atomizing nozzles have already been installed on three other continuous miners.
